Hair Oils - What I Always Tell My Clients
Hair oiling is one of the simplest rituals we’ve grown up with, yet it is often misunderstood.
Over the years, many people have asked me - which oil should I use? How often should I apply it? Does oiling really help?
Let me simplify it for you.
🌿 Choosing the Right Hair Oil
For taming split ends, look for oils rich in Vitamin E. These help smoothen the hair shaft and reduce frizz.
If your hair is damaged or over-processed, choose oils that deeply nourish and strengthen the strands. The key is not just oiling - it’s choosing the right oil for your hair type.
If your hair is thin, opt for lightweight oils that don’t weigh it down.
If your hair is dry or frizzy, richer oils like argan oil work beautifully for intense nourishment.
Hair care is never one-size-fits-all. It’s about understanding your texture and needs.
✨ How I Recommend Applying Hair Oil
Hair oils can be used in multiple ways.
For deep nourishment, massage the oil gently into your scalp and leave it overnight. This allows better absorption and improves scalp health.
If you’re short on time, you can use a small amount as a post-wash treatment - apply lightly to towel-dried hair to help with frizz control and smoothness.
Before washing, I always suggest applying oil properly and allowing it to sit for some time. It prepares the hair for cleansing and prevents excessive dryness.
💛 Can You Oil Too Much?
Yes, you can.
If you’re washing your hair very frequently because of excess oil, it may disrupt your scalp’s natural balance and lead to dryness over time. Moderation is important.
Healthy hair is about balance - not overload.
Hair oiling is not just a routine; it’s a ritual of nourishment. When done correctly, it improves texture, reduces dryness, and keeps your strands looking healthy and strong.
Listen to your hair.
It tells you what it needs.
With the right oil and the right method, even the simplest habit can transform your hair care journey.
